Encounter sculpture
The Encounter Sculpture

The "Encounter" sculpture at the entrance to the Birchwood District of Warrington has been designed by sculptor Stephen Broadbent and funded by the local business community and Landfill Taxes.

The 80 foot (24 mtr) high sculpture, to be illuminated at night, will be seen as a dramatic beacon for those entering Birchwood. The figures are symbolic of an "encounter" reflecting the social interchange and relationships of both the resident population and the large working population.

The construction materials are mild steel and cast aluminium with the whole sculpture having a very durable coating system.

Students from Birchwood Community High School have been involved throughout the process and the sculpture was manufactured in Birchwood.
